2023 Wedding Trends

  1. Outdoor weddings
Many couples are opting to hold their wedding outdoors these days. With Covid still on people’s brains this is a wonderful option to be able to share your special day with more people in a safer environment. This also opens up the opportunity to hold your wedding in a number of beautiful locations (like amongst the redwoods here at Kennolyn!). It offers much more creativity outside of the cut and paste indoor options of late.

  2. Friends or Family Member as Officiant
Couple’s are choosing to have friends or family members become ordained and marry them. This adds an incredibly personal touch to their ceremony, ensures the person marrying them already knows their love story and is a wonderful honor to the person chosen to marry them. Imagine having your best friend or grandparent pronounce you married for the first time!

  3. Alternative Entertainment
It’s not just about DJ’s anymore! Couple’s are looking for a full entertainment experience. Bands are making a huge comeback and the biggest wedding trend seems to be silent discos! Glow sticks on the dance floor and sparkler exits remain popular trends to get guests involved in the day.

  4. Minimal Décor
Gone are the days of over the top floral displays and cluttered table décor. Couples are choosing to scale down and use their environment more (especially those choosing outdoor weddings). Simple greenery & sustainable flowers are trending, which is not only eco-friendly but budget friendly!

  5. Elopements
One of the biggest trends coming out of Covid is elopements. Couples are opting for stress-free private, intimate ceremonies and planning big parties a year or more later to celebrate with family and friends.

  6. No More Wedding Cake
Wedding cake is becoming a thing of the past. It’s expensive, cumbersome and half of it is leftover at the end of the night. Couples are focusing more on dessert tables, small bites and even a cake made of cheese! Something that allows their guests a quick sweet treat and then back on the dance floor!

  7. First Looks & Private Final Dances
First looks remain very much on trend. It gives the couple a rare private moment on the day, allows for some incredible photos and gives the couple more time post ceremony to enjoy their guests. Private final dances are becoming more and more popular as well. Guests are ushered out after the final song and the couple takes one final dance alone together before the night ends.

  8. Full Weekend Wedding Retreats
Who wouldn’t love to spend a whole weekend celebrating with their family and friends? Couples are leaning more towards retreat weekends to extend the fun and spend extra time with their loved ones. After spending so much time apart during Covid, people are looking for more opportunities to bring their family and friends together for longer than one day. Kennolyn’s Stone Creek venue is a wonderful option for these couples. Enjoy the redwoods, camp activities and quality time in a stunning setting!
