If you’re still trying to decide between having your best friend from college officiate your wedding or hiring a professional, read about Barbara Boyd and you’ll know just what to do.

“Love between two, makes two forever One.”

Your wedding ceremony is the crowning point of your courtship. From the first time an attraction occurred between you, to the moment you say, “I Do,” will be one of the most memorable moments of your lives. This will be the first day of the rest of your life together. I trust you will find the second day even more rewarding.

My Story

Having worked as a non-denominational Officiant since 1998 is a reflection of my religious and spiritual background, being raised within an interfaith family. This brought on an interest in other cultures, languages and beliefs.

So in my early 20’s I took to the road and traveled the ancient civilizations of Europe, wandered through the religious sites of the Middle East and sat in meditative silence in Buddhist  temples in Asia. In all of these places I found the beautiful and the exotic. Upon my return I graduated with a degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Santa Cruz.

The knowledge I gained and the experiences I felt from the people I met and the places I visited were the beliefs that each of us has a desire to cultivate and cherish that sentiment of love with even the smallest acts of kindness: a soft touch, a listening ear, holding hands, the ability to love and to be loved. As having always been drawn to the sacred, it felt natural to begin my career as a Wedding Officiant.

Your Love Story

As you profess your love in front of your dearest family and cherished friends, you’ll want to share your love story. Together we’ll create a personalized ceremony from the prose and poetry I’ll offer that resonates and speaks for you both.

I wonder how your wedding day will unfold. Scott, will forever be remembered by his bride Sandy because of his grand entrance: paddling across a wide lake, dressed in his stylish black tuxedo.  John, a very nervous groom, took a moment before the processional as he began to hyperventilate for the deep love he felt for his future bride. Sylvia, a beautiful bride dressed in an emerald green renaissance gown, slowed down her entrance for fear of fainting, because of a tight corset.

Welcome and Acknowledge

We’ll begin to welcome your guests by thanking them for traveling that extra mile

to celebrate your special day. And perhaps mention those who have passed on,

and are with you in spirit and in your hearts.

Personal Love Story

How you met, and how you became engaged?

Philip purposely continued physical therapy, even though he didn’t need it, just to

get up the courage to ask Tina out on a date.  George proposed to Gabi while skydiving over the mountains in New Zealand. Teresa almost swallowed her engagement ring

after taking a bite out of her birthday cake that William had baked for her.

Poetry or a Reading

“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day”

By William Shakespeare, Sonnet 18

“I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,

or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.”

Pablo Neruda, Chilean poet

“Wherever I am, there’s always Pooh; there’s always Pooh and me.”

From Winnie the Pooh.

Your Vows: With Love in your eyes, your Hearts have truly come home

Ring Exchange: May you always be together, Hand in Hand, in Love forever

A Ritual: Unity Candle or Sand, a Handfasting or Blending of Wine

Final Pronouncement & Kiss

”Love does not consist in gazing into each other’s eyes

but looking together in the same direction.”

By Saint-Exupery
